Pagers For Restaurants
Chances are if you commonly go out to eat, you have been handed a restaurant pager, if you had to wait for a table. This is a relatively new way to organize patrons at a restaurant to make sure they get a table in the order they arrived.
Using pagers to reach those waiting for tables has the advantage of avoiding having to use a verbal system of overhead paging, as this is disruptive to other patrons. It also helps to locate those waiting for a table more quickly, which helps to keep the crowds at the entrance to the restaurant at a minimum. Additionally, if the weather is nice, it allows patrons to wait outside, if they wish, and not risk missing their table, if the overhead paging is only able to be heard indoors.
When you think of the term ‘restaurant pager', most likely you think from the perspective of the patron waiting on a table. However, a lot of restaurants are also incorporating a paging system for their wait and host staff. This can be very useful in a large and busy establishment, as the wait staff can be paged when a food or drink order is ready for pick-up, or if they have been assigned a new table. Host staff can be paged to clean a particular section or table for an incoming guest. It allows all of the players in the restaurant game to stay in touch, even with tons of patrons milling about.
The original design for restaurant pagers was a flat, square-like design that would light up, vibrate or do both when the patron waiting for a table was being paged. However, as this trend has taken off, there are several variances, from the original standard, being offered from different companies.
Some companies have come up with unique designs for restaurant pagers, such as shaping the pager to mimic a piece of food that would be commonly served in the restaurant. Also, some companies are offering the opportunity to advertise on the restaurant pager. They are equipping the pagers with an additional jacket, in which a business card sized advertisement can be slipped into, so that the person waiting for a table has the opportunity to read the advertisement.
No matter how clever you wish to get with the restaurant paging systems, there is a company that should be able to meet your needs. As far as pricing goes, most companies required that you provide some basic information pertaining to your restaurant (i.e. the number of wait/host staff, number of patrons, etc.) in order to provide the most exact estimate.
