Do You Have A Pager With Volume Control?

To answer that question you will need to look at your pager. Maybe even get out the instruction manual. Chances are if you are still using a numeric pager, you won't have a volume control. It is set to beep at a certain level and that's as loud as it gets. If you have trouble hearing it, I would recommend wearing it where you will feel the vibration when you have a message coming in. Early pagers were only equipped to give a signal to call an answering service to get your messages. They evolved into numerical pagers that could store phone numbers that needed a call back. You could also use codes to send different messages. For instance, one number could mean, call home, and another one could tell you your office is looking for you.

As pagers evolved and began to add more technology, they started using voice messaging. In this case, even some of the early voice messaging pagers still did not have a volume control. There was no way to control the volume of an alert tone or to turn up the volume on the message you're listening to.

I found while researching the Internet, the more expensive your pager is the better the chance of having a volume control. I found no numerical pagers with a volume control. I did find two-way pagers that has many added features and has a volume control for both voice messages and alerts. If you are looking for a pager that will allow you to control the volume, you will need to be carefully check out the details and features of the pager before you buy it. I did find information on ALPS pagers by SCA that allows you to control the volume of both the voice and the alert tone, or for voice only. If you have a
volume control that only controls the voice volume, the alert tone will stay at full volume all the time, regardless of the volume setting.

One of the nicest pagers I found was the Motorola T900. Motorola claims this model is the smallest, lightest, and least expensive pager for two way messaging. It has many great features; one that I especially liked was the storage of your messages for up to 72 hours if you are out of your coverage area. This pager has four-line display, QUERTY keyboard, built in alarm clock and many other very nice features. It also has an alert volume control.
