Cases For Pagers
It seems impossible to stay in touch, in both the professional and personal world, without being accessible at all times. Pagers are one of the most commonly used devices to maintain constant availability. But, if you spend a lot of money on your pager, you will want to protect it from exterior damage (especially if you wear it on your belt or other exposed areas). A pager case is the best way to protect your investment from damage.
Pager cases come in a variety of sizes and materials. Depending on how you carry your pager, you want to be sure to get the correct type of "attachment" to your case, i.e. a belt clip. The most inexpensive of pager cases range from about 4 to 10 dollars and usually consist of a simple fabric, such as nylon, with a small extra flap of material that acts as the attachment feature. The downside to these is that they are pretty easy to remove and may become loose without you being aware, and the pager could be stolen or simply fall off.
The more expensive pager cases range from 18 to 30 dollars. Most are offered in leather or some other higher quality fabric. Usually pager cases in this price range are water-resistant (a very useful feature), meaning that they will protect against usual rain/snow/sleet exposure. Additionally, they have actual belt clips, that are made to be adjustable to fit almost any type of belt, which could be an advantage for workers with heavy utility belts.
Additionally, there is also the option (should you need it) to purchase a 100% waterproof pager case. These are rated to remain functional at up to 40 meters and usually cost about an average of 25 dollars.
Depending on the size of your pager, you may want to avoid a "one size fits all option". Some companies only offer a small and large size, and if your pager is unique in its size, this may not be the best option for you. Fortunately, there are several companies that offer a range of sizes for pager cases, from the extremely small to multi-function units that may be quite large. It is a good idea to be sure to get a case with a relatively snug fit for you pager, as a case too large may again allow the pager to slip out, without the owner noticing.
